Applaud your decision. It takes courage to opt out of a system that is so fundamental to everything we do, but clearly disfunctional in many ways and where the trend is in the wrong direction. I for one have dealt (and know many people) with many similar issues. Having completely legit business ,transactions and assets questioned over and over again by different parties. KYC/AML taken to its absurd. Perhaps we differ here somewhat, as I believe there is a place for KYC/AML (and goverment + taxation) in certain scenarios, but not in the way its currently conducted or to the degree it is. Its completely backwards. They should use those same resources to fight actual crime, and would yield a much better impact for society and tax payers.
I do hope you will still cover assets, but will be an interested reader either way. You are a true and authentic contrarian that stands for something, and in my experience I can learn most from those people. Would also note that crypto assets broadly offer an interesting alternative investment universe. There is a lot of bullshit, and it has a lot of other early stage problems, sadly, but it is where the future is heading. Tbd how it will evolve and how it will be regulated, but it shows the potential of a better alternative financial system. With investable ideas within it beyond BTC and ETH.
Are you a US citizen? Something is going on - I have been using a $ transfer service to transfer rent from a USA bank account into the Malaysian bank account of my landlord. It was near instanteous for years and suddenly a few months ago, they started hassling me, sitting on my $ for up to 5 business days, and demanding more and more personal info from me... There is a new rule in Malaysia for an ID, but that does not explain the other hassles...
I might just go back to using the ATM - the fee is a little higher and I only do it during the day as I have to walk from my local bank to my landlord's bank and then deal with a deposit machine...
As for Stripe: Dr Malone had to get a lawyer to deal with them but they were targeting him as he is "controversial" - do you write anything "controversial"?
